And it may surprise you a little, but for the 5th time out of 6 games, the Canes are the favorites. What is the line, you ask?
As per DraftKings Sportsbook standards, no over/under is available in the open. I’ll update this when that number goes live.
I mean, Virginia Tech is bad. bad bad And not as talented on the roster as Miami. So, by those standards, it makes sense for Miami to be a road favorite. And despite Saturday’s loss to North Carolina, Miami’s performance was better than anything Virginia Tech has put on the field in recent memory.
But.
I totally understand why, Miami is the more talented team on paper and despite the struggles of Virginia Tech, Miami being a double digit favorite would be shocking. But that’s where things opened up this afternoon.
If last week was a loss against Carolina, this week against Virginia Tech is a season-defining one. If Miami finds a way to lose this game to one of the worst teams in the conference, the season will be over for good. Home or road, rain or shine, the canes must be – Necessarily – Beat this game. And, if the opening betting line is to be believed, they should.
But Miami has been favored in two of their three losses so far this season, so take that betting line with a grain of salt. Better yet, a 100lb block of salt. All salt. take care.
