Minnesota United announced an expanded partnership with Allina Health


Minnesota United announced that Allina Health will be the official health care provider of MNUFC. This expanded partnership will allow the two organizations to make a greater impact in their shared commitment to serving our community.

Manny Lagos, MNUFC Chief Soccer Officer and Robbie Bershaw, MD, Allina Health Sports Medicine Physician and MNUFC Chief Medical Officer will be at Allianz Field from 10 am – 12 pm today for interviews.

“I am fortunate to be a part of two great teams – Allina Health and Minnesota United – and I am grateful that these two community-focused organizations are strengthening their partnership,” said Robbie Bershaw, MD, Allina Health Sports Medicine Physician and Chief Medical Officer. “Through MNUFC’s high-quality player care, youth soccer opportunities, blood drives, powerhouse soccer team, podcasts and more, this partnership allows us to be better for the players, fans, patients and communities we serve,” MNUFC said.

Minnesota United has signed athletes through the fall of 2022 with the Allina Health Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute’s existing Power Soccer team. The Courage became Kenny Blizzards ‘MNUFC Power Soccer’, launching the club’s first Power Soccer team and only the third Power Soccer team in MLS. Power Soccer is the first competitive team sport designed and developed specifically for power wheelchair users. Powerball athletes with disabilities such as quadriplegia, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy and more. Athletes do not have to be wheelchair users on a daily basis to play the sport of power football. The game is usually played in a gymnasium on the basketball court. Two teams of four players attack, defend and shoot a 13-inch soccer ball in a skillful and challenging game.

The team will continue to compete in the US Power Soccer Association (USPSA) under the Minnesota United name. MNUFC Power Soccer is coached at the Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute in Golden Valley, Minn., by coach Katie Kenny and volunteer coaches Tom Gordon, Brian Monson and Piper Murray.

Blood Drive on the Allianz Field;

MNUFC will continue to host its annual blood drives at Allianz Field, presented by Allina Health.

This year’s blood drive will be held on March 21st at Allianz Field from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm CT. Supporters can register. over here.

The club and Alina Health first partnered on this initiative in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic, hosting four blood drives that same year with over 300 blood donations and nearly 1,000 lives saved.

From 2023, Alina Health will be the supply partner of MNUFC Academy and the frontline partner of Jersey. With teams at the U15, U17 and U19 levels, the MNUFC Academy is the first step in the Minnesota United Pro Player Pathway – a pathway for players to transition from youth soccer to the Academy, MNUFC2 and First Team. As part of the partnership, Allina Health will provide curriculum and support sessions for academy groups through Allina Health’s ‘Into Chills’ program – mindfulness and stress-relief resources for teenagers.

Alina Health Honor Board Custodian:

In keeping with Allianz Stadium’s long-standing tradition of electing fans to exchange scorecards at the north end of the stadium at MNUFC home games, the club and Alina Health will continue to honor an Alina Healthcare staff or team member. The honorary scoreboard keeper will be recognized on the video board live in stadium form as well as by the stadium PA reading during each game. Honorary scoreboard keeper for the Loons’ home opener on March 11 will be MNUFC Power Soccer team captain Dendra Bardell.

Alina Health will continue to support The Voice of the Lions podcast as a presenting partner. Fans can expect to hear Alina’s health practitioner or psychiatrist as a podcast guest each season.

In continued support of the Pro Player Path, Alina Health will be the jersey front partner of MNUFC2, Minnesota United’s MLS Next Pro team.

The SE entry in Alliance Field will now be Alina’s health gate. Additional signs will be in the stadium.
