Chris Jans and the Mississippi State men’s basketball team head east for a matchup against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in their first ACC/SEC tournament of the season.

Chris Jans, in his second season as head coach of the Mississippi State men’s basketball team, will travel to Atlanta, Georgia for the 2023-2024 season.

why?

Well, the Bulldogs are set to meet the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets as part of their first ACC/SEC challenge.

That’s right, Mississippi State will get a chance to go east this next season and take on a former member of the SEC. And it’s a good chance for Jans and the Bulldogs to get a good, solid road win this year against a program looking to bounce back after some less-than-ideal results.

2023-2024 Mississippi State Men’s Basketball Schedule: The Bulldogs will face the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets during the ACC/SEC Tournament.

Georgia Tech is having a rough season. The Yellow Jackets only won 15 of their 33 games last year. So, there’s a lot of room for improvement for Georgia Tech, because they haven’t been great lately.

Meanwhile, Mississippi State had a breakthrough in Jans’ first season in Starkville. The Bulldogs went 21-13 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament’s First Four game.

The last time these two teams met was in the 1970s (so, it’s been a while) and most of the meetings between the two teams happened when Georgia Tech was still a member of the SEC.

That said, as Matt Dunaway noted in MSU’s official press conference, Georgia Tech and Mississippi State have only met a total of 29 times.

Considering the roster the Bulldogs have and the way Jans has worked to get this program moving in the right direction, this should be an exciting opportunity for the Bulldogs down the road.
