A local T-shirt fundraiser raised over $10,000 to support the victims of the May 6, 2023 mass shooting at Allen’s Premium Outlets.
McKinney-based Home Team Publications began selling “Allen Str8ng” T-shirts after the shooting. “8” refers to the eight victims. All proceeds from the shirts are donated to the Communities Foundation of Texas (CFT), which has received over $100,000.
According to Fox 4, Home Team Prints co-owner Kevin Easley and his colleagues were inspired to create the shirts to show solidarity with those still recovering from injuries and dealing with the emotional impact of gun violence. In an interview with FOX 4, Easley expressed his connection to Allen by citing his hometown — something also mentioned on the company’s official site.
“Our retail location is located in McKinney, TX, but what many don’t know is that all of our owners and employees have been Allen residents for over 25 years,” reads the Home Team Prints website. “While we cannot change the events of May 6th, we hope that we can provide what we can to help those in need.”
An email to people who bought the Home Team print shirt received more than 400 orders in the 24-hour period after the original story went live. The backlog of orders caused a brief delay in shipping, but the business has no plans to stop orders from coming in.
“Our plan is to have everything published in line so there are no major delays,” he explained in an email to HomeGroup Publishing. Environmental profile. “Just a reminder, we donate 100% of sales to CFT, not just the proceeds. Your purchase will greatly help those in need.”
