Most of Amazon’s tech workers aren’t required to return to the office.

The CEO of Amazon has said that he is currently open to allowing corporate employees to work from home.

Andy Jacey, who was handpicked by Jeff Bezos to become CEO a year ago, said at a meeting Wednesday that he has no plans to bring people back to Amazon headquarters or any other corporate Amazon office.

The move seems less about a new way of productivity for tech workers and more about avoiding sickness.

In early 2020, Amazon’s tech workers were ordered to work from home as Covid-19 began to spread.

Recently, Amazon created a goal of creating an office-centric culture.

Jassy said most tech workers are back in physical offices but only a few days a week. However, creative teams still meet in person.

Other tech companies like Google and Apple have ordered their tech workers back to the office. However, some workers are pushing back.

Kiro 7 was told that Amazon is open to hiring tech workers in remote locations because they live far from the nearest office.
