Beckville 2024 ATH J’koby Williams (5’9, 170) He has committed to Texas Tech with offers from Bayer, Houston, TCU, UTSA, LSU and Michigan.
Williams is a three-sport star at Beckville, competing in football, basketball and track.
In track, he took gold in the 110m hurdles (14.26) and triple jump (45-11.75) at the Texas state championships.
A four-year starter and three-time captain on the gridiron, he plays on offense, defense and special teams.
Last year, Williams rushed for 1,664 yards and 27 touchdowns and collected 27 receptions for 718 yards and 11 TDs, leading the Bearcats to a 10-2 record.
“The first three steps are as good as anybody’s,” Beckville head coach Chris Ross said. “He’s as fast as they come. He sees things you can’t see and you can’t coach him.”
“I’ve been doing this for 21 years, and I’ve been with a lot of good players. He’s probably the best I’ve been around.”
Manager Ross Williams was equally praised for his handling of business off the field. He was a first-team student-athlete who handled his recruiting and attention with honors.
Ross praised Williams for having the maturity to talk to college coaches who came through Beckville to recruit him, whether they were from the University of Texas or the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
“He’s an unbelievable kid,” Ross said. “He speaks from the heart. His mom did a great job raising him. He’s going to be a great young man for the next twenty years, whether he plays football or not, and he’s going to do a lot of great things.”
“He’s all about Beckville High School. He goes from football to basketball, and all that stuff. He knows it’s important for his teammates to be here.”
At the end of the day, it just came down to “building relationships” with the staff at Texas Tech.
Williams is ranked No. 81 on the 2024 DCTF Rising Hot 100.
