Paramore fans were treated to a guest appearance from Lil Uzi Vert on the band’s second night at Madison Square Garden when Hayley Williams invited the rapper onstage to perform “Misery Business.”
Each night the band plucks selected fans to join in for their favorite song. Not always going for obvious choices, like Barricade Warriors, Williams surveys the crowd to pick out more unsuspecting audience members. Longtime Paramore stalwart Lil Uzi Vert cites them as an influence on their work.
“[We’ve been] Talking for a minute, but this is the first time we’ve met in person. I love you,” Williams told Uzi on Wednesday night. “You said a lot of nice things about me. You’re so sweet to me and Paramore, so can we do this bridge together again? And then we melt their faces off. all right? New York City, are you ready? here we go!”
In the year In March 2020, Williams told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe that she rejected her collaboration with Lil Uzi Vert, because the track would have brought her an uncomfortable level of fame.
“I remember Uzi asking me to do some stuff with him and I know the fans are going to be mad at me for saying that,” she told Lowe. Buddy, I love you so much, but I don’t want to be so famous.’
Lil Uzi Vert Says No One Gives Up Complex At last year’s BET Awards, they said their dream collaboration would be “Hailey Williams from Paramore,” saying, “There’s no one better than Hayley Williams.”
During Paramore’s first two sold-out nights in New York, Williams entered the general admission pit to address fans pushing and shoving. After the misunderstanding was resolved, Williams had the band resume the song she had left off, “Figure 8,” to settle the crowd.
