Pitt fell out of Sunday’s AP poll after losing to Georgia Tech on Saturday night.
The Panthers were ranked outside the top 25 for the first time in more than a year, snapping their 13-game AP streak. Election polls are over. They didn’t even get a single vote, though it dwindled recently. Out of step.
They last played as an unranked team in October 2021 and earned a spot after winning three straight and beating Virginia Tech on the road. Next week they face No. 23 Clemson.
The 13 AP selections from 1989-90 is the longest for Pitt. They went on a 16-game streak the entire 1989 season and then four games into the 1990 season.
Pitt looks to get back on track this Saturday against Virginia Tech at Accresure Stadium, Oct. 8 at 3:30 p.m.
