RAO Community Health partners with Cabarrus County to host ‘Care Village’

Cabarrus County, NC (WBTV) – Under the motto “It Takes a Village to Make an Impact,” RAO Community Health is hosting a “Village of Care” in partnership with Cabarrus Health Alliance and the Boys & Girls Club of Cabarrus County. To help create a balanced, physical and equitable community by addressing health disparities in Cabarrus County.

RAO seeks to provide a safe and shared space for community members to access a variety of resources dedicated to health and wellness in both Mecklenburg and Cabarrus County. Through this collaboration, the partners bring together local community organizations working to create healthier communities and improve access to transportation and resources.

This event is open to the public. Walk-ins are welcome for HIV testing, Covid-19 vaccinations and live cooking activities, but pre-registration is strongly encouraged. Register in advance over here.

A list of other participating vendors includes: 1,2,3 Jump, Cabarrus Breast Health Center Carolina Whole Health, Community Free Clinic, Community Yoga, Endless Possibilities, Gamma Epsilon Zeta Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Jeff Gordon Children’s Hospital, Maximus – NCEB, Mental Health America of Central Carolina, Partners in Behavioral Health Management, Rise 2 Thrive Family Resource Center, and Soulful Healing Yoga

The event is being held on Saturday, September 17th from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm at the Boys & Girls Club of Cabarrus County, 247 Spring St. NW, Concord.

Founded on March 31, 2017, RAO Community Health is a nonprofit located in Uptown Charlotte, North Carolina. RAO’s mission is to provide medical, social, educational and mental health support along with HIV/AIDS preventive care to diverse and underserved populations in the Charlotte-metro area. With their PrEP program, clinical services, home pharmacy, prevention team, and housing and rental assistance program for people living with HIV, RAO’s goal is to create a one-stop shop for total care.

Their mission is to educate, advocate and support diverse and underserved populations, including the LGBTQ+ community, through compassionate and quality care. As a 2018 recipient of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)-funded Racial and Ethnic Approach to Community Health (REACH), RAO strives to bring community members together to create community coalitions to address racial and ethnic health. Disparities among Black/African Americans in Mecklenburg and Cabarrus County.
