BISMARCK – US Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) joins Larry Kudlow on Fox Business to discuss the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States’ (CFIUS) proposal to expand its jurisdiction over Grand Forks Air Force Base. An excerpt and full video are below.

Grand Forks ‘High Caution’ on CFIUS Proposal to Designate Air Force Base

“[The Grand Forks Air Force Base] And several other bases are now on the ‘Top Secret’ list, meaning that for a 100-mile radius around those bases, CFIUS has direct jurisdiction. It is an important step in preventing bad investment. We still have a long way to go, a lot of legislation, but this was a good and important step.

The community’s impact on the cancellation of the Fufeng project:
“They’re the people who put the city commission, the city council on the line and pushed them. The council wanted to proceed with the project, but they wanted more direction from the federal government, which had the capacity and expertise to make these decisions. The federal government has been very slow to respond, and that’s annoying. […] Sadly, we went a year and a half to discuss the issue when we had to pull the plug immediately.

On protecting America’s critical supply chains:
During the outbreak, we learned how critical and vulnerable our supply chain, including food, is to the Chinese Communist Party. China owns one of the largest, if not the largest, meatpacking facilities in the United States. They’re always looking to buy more critical infrastructure, more critical supply chains. […] Then we have to free ourselves. China has taken full advantage of our free market capitalist system but they have never accepted it.
