Tech baseball dropped a doubleheader against Radford

BLACKSBURG – Heading into the middle of the fall schedule, the Virginia Tech baseball team swept Radford on Friday with a six-inning exhibition sweep as the Hokies picked up 7-4 and 9-6 victories over English Field at Atlantic Union Bank Park.

Game 1

Virginia Tech successfully managed five of its six offensive innings to defeat the Highlanders 7-4.

With the game out of reach, Tech became Inter’s second baseman in the bottom of the sixth inning, swinging his trademark hammer twice. Warren Holzmer and graduate transfer Chris Cannizzaro (Bucknell) hit back-to-back homers. As Holzemer took the ball straight to center field, Cannizzaro hit a solo shot to left-center to christen his new home.
