Tech finished second with Ben Hogan

Fort Worth – Powered by a top-10 finish form Ludwig Aberg And Callum ScottThe No. 6 Texas Tech men’s golf program finished second at the Ben Hogan College Invitational hosted by TCU at the historic Colonial Country Club.

Scott and Aberg finished -3 overall, tied for eighth overall.

The Red Raiders also received a pair of strong innings from the freshman. Matthew ComegisHe shot a final round score of 67 (-3) to reach a +4 overall.

The stacked 16-team field includes five of the nation’s No. 1 Vanderbilt, No. 2 Stanford and No. 4 Oklahoma. In all, 13 of the top-25 teams were in the field in the final Golf Week rankings.

In the end, No. 20 North Carolina finished nine shots ahead of the Red Raiders, who finished -15 for the day.

Pepperdine and No. 5 Arizona State finished third overall at -5, followed by No. 1 Vanderbilt (-1), Oklahoma State (+4), Stanford (+5) and Texas (+8).

Florida, Oregon and TCU finished tied for ninth at +11, with No. 4 Oklahoma and No. 9 Georgia Tech sharing 12th-place honors.

Wake Forest (+16), Georgia (+19) and USC (+31) round out the 16-team field.

TCU’s Gustav Fremodet fired a final-round 65 to claim individual medalist honors. Fremodet finished one shot ahead of Pepperdine’s William Mouw, who finished at -7.

Next:
After playing in two events in eight days, the Red Raiders will have next week off before the 2022 Big 12 Tournament Championship. The three-day event begins on October 17th and runs through October 19th at Houston Oaks Country Club.
