Tech golfers compete against Ben Hogan College – Men’s Golf – Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

The plates – Set to face one of the strongest college fields of the fall at a longtime PGA Tour venue, the No. 8-ranked Georgia Tech golf team heads to Fort Worth, Texas on Monday and Tuesday for the Ben Hogan College Invitational at Colonial Country Club.

Competition information – The Yellow Jackets will compete in the Ben Hogan College Invitational for the first time. Hosted by TCU, the tournament consists of 36 holes on Monday with tee shots beginning at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday’s 18-hole round starts at holes 1 and 10 at 8 p.m.

Measuring 7,204 yards and playing a par of 70, the Colonial Club has hosted an annual PGA Tour event since 1946. The club was founded in 1936 and hosted the 1941 US Open, the 1975 Players Championship and the 1991 US Women’s Open. The course sits on the banks of the Trinity River and is less than a mile from the TCU campus.

The Ben Hogan Event includes 14 teams that competed in the 2022 NCAA Championships, including eight that advanced to the playoffs. Thirteen of 16 teams are ranked in the nation’s top 25 according to the Sept. 30 Bushnell/Golfweek coaches poll. Hiroshi Tai (Freshman, Singapore) – After winning the individual event at the Maui Gym Intercollegiate (-14), playing his second event as a starting lineup…^Th Place at Inverness Intercollegiate…Enrolled at Tech last January after serving a 22-month stint in the Singapore Navy…Graduated from Windermere (Fla.) Prep in Nov. 2020 before military service…Toured Asia (T44). An international series event in Singapore in August, defeating former Tech star and 2019 US Amateur champion Andy Ogletree… represented Singapore for the 58th time.^Th World Amateur Team Championship.

Aidan Tran (Freshman, Fresno, CA) – Made 24 ties as freshman at Maui Gym Intercollegiate in 2022-23 for Tech.^Th Position… Ranked 39th in the US Junior Golf Association when he graduated last May, No. 35 in the GolfWeek/Sagarin Boys Rankings… Outstanding in the US Junior Amateur with Play… Three wins and eight other top-10 finishes in minor events since 2018.
