Texas Tech fell to Iowa State on a further gain


Lubbock, Texas – Despite an early 2-0 lead, Texas Tech fell to Iowa State, 3-2, in extra innings Friday night at Rocky Johnson Field.

In tonight’s eighth-inning loss, six of the Red Raiders’ (26-12, 0-4 Big 12) 12 losses are now by runs. It’s the second extra-innings game the team has missed this season. Tech is 0-2 in extra-inning games.

After a quiet bottom of the seventh, the Cyclones took the lead for one time in the eighth when Mikaela Ramos doubled and was hit by a pitch.

Kendall Fritz (7-3) took the hard-fought loss after allowing three runs in eight appearances. Saya Swain (4-5) picked up the win in 2.0 innings. The righty didn’t allow a hit and scored three strikeouts.

The Red Raiders will look to bounce back and get their first conference win in tomorrow night’s 1 p.m. contest against the Cyclones.
