Texas Tech Red Raiders men’s basketball has added two talented recruits to the 2023 class, with Riverview (Sarasota, FL) guard Jason Jason and Memorial (Frisco, TX) guard Drew Steffe already announcing their commitments.
But for coach Mark Adams and staff, the recruiting doesn’t stop there.
And on Wednesday, Tech secured a visit with some of the best big men in the class.
Gardner, a 7-0, 200-pound beast inside, has fielded offers from top programs like Houston, Illinois, Kansas, LSU, UCLA, Virginia Tech and more.
But despite all the offers, Gardner narrowed his destination list down to eight He announced on Twitter On July 31 against Texas Tech, Kansas, Mizzou, Pepperdine, UCBB, USC, St. Mary’s and Dayton.
Even though he’s 7-foot, Gardner has a smooth jumper and natural all-around ability that should make him a real weapon at the Division I level. This shooting ability brings him from behind to the basket, as he can spin around smaller defenders and shoot with an unblockable shot.
If the Red Raiders land Gardner, they may be getting a real unicorn, a player who blossoms with NBA potential.
