The biggest trend to take away from fashion month? Bleaching brushes

There’s no denying that brushes are big business in beauty. The last 10 years have seen it go from a secondary facade to a very important thing. We color them, pluck them, fill them in, wear them, tease them, sculpt them, contour them and style them with countless products. The pendulum swung from perfectly matched Kardashian brows to Cara Delevingne-style bushy ensembles. Influencers like Jess Hunt have turned their enviable arches into million dollar businesses. Hell, these days a gel polish is higher up the makeup food chain than mascara. But is the Age of Enlightenment approaching?

Fashion month – it’s almost always a hotbed of trends – I think yes. From the front row to the runway, bras played a supporting role in what was a fashion show with no, or minimal, fashion. Let me outline and provide some visual evidence below.

Bleaching brushes

Of course, this is not groundbreaking or ‘new’, but a mainstream trend. Julia Fox was an early adopter, but Kendall ditched her ebony arches for the 2022 Met Gala. Then there was Bella Hadid, who was sporting washed out bras a few weeks ago. It also featured in many shows: Givenchy, Vivienne Westwood and Dries Van Noten among them. If you want to try it, see a specialist to remove unwanted warm tones.

Lighter busts

For those who don’t want to commit to a full cleanse, take cues from Kylie Jenner and keep them simple. The beauty entrepreneur dyed her hair blonde for the Copernicus show and kept it light for a mock IG pic (see here). While they were still there, they softened her overall appearance and made much less of an impact. Make it at home with a pencil or pencil and a little gel. Also, skip your color appointment.

Thin violence

Christina Aguilera’s sweet soundtrack rocked those of us who grew up with it. Stripped, lead thin bits are back. For the more determined, most celebrities and models hide their natural curves and line the top, but if you’re feeling bold, you can ask a professional to remove a portion of your natural shape.

Are the days of great brushes over? I, myself! Expect to see lots of skinnier, smoother, whiter brows in your food and (possibly) on your face in the coming months.
