The Cavaliers rallied for a 4-2 victory over Virginia Tech

Charlottesville, Va. Thanks to a strong team performance, the Virginia men’s soccer team (3-2) scored four goals in the final 20 minutes of action to rally from a one-goal deficit and beat Virginia Tech (0-4-1) 4-2 on Friday night (Sept. 9) at Kloeckner Stadium.

How it happened:

Virginia jumped out to a hot start right from the first minute. Virginia pressured the ball in the first quarter.

Smithfield’s Common Wealth Conflict

The Smithfield Commonwealth Challenge, originally called the Commonwealth Challenge (2005-2007), has been part of the UVA-Virginia Tech rivalry since 2014. A program based on all sports and points is the Commonwealth Clash Trophy presented to the winner. Every year in the school in front of the competition.
With today’s win, Virginia claimed its first point of the 2022-23 season with a 1-0 win over Virginia Tech.
