Less than two weeks after the Cultural Heritage Administration canceled the luxury brand’s Gucci fashion show scheduled to take place in Gyeongbokgung on November 1, the Gucci Korea Fashion Show has announced that it will go ahead as planned.

Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele will stage his first runway show in Korea at a palace in central Seoul, a Gucci Korea press release reported on Thursday. The artistic and historical value of Joseon Palace will contribute to writing a new chapter in the narrative of the Gucci fashion show, according to a release.

The CHA committee gave conditional approval for the show on August 16, including checking historical facts and taking advice from relevant historians. In the year On August 29, however, Korean media reported that CHA had canceled the event.

Although the CHA has not made an official statement on the current situation, an official from the agency confirmed that an agreement has been reached with Gucci to host runway shows at the palace.

A CHA official told The Korea Herald on Thursday, “After the planned cancellation of the Gucci show in Gyeongbokgung, we discussed the matter closely with Gucci.

The official added that public opinion on the issue is one of the issues considered for making the final decision.

The CHA is trying to avoid further controversy over the approval of historic sites following a recent public uproar over the use of Cheung Wa Dae, the former presidential office, in a fashion magazine. The official said.
