LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- The same weekend Lexington’s annual Latino Festival is back, it’s also a great resource for the Hispanic community.
The Feria de Salud – or Health Fair – returns to Masterson Station Park.
It provides information from several health care organizations, doctors and other professionals to specifically benefit the city’s Hispanic community.
There were free eye exams, flu shots, Narcan training, and a children’s costume contest.
Organizers said the event is a great opportunity to help the community get numbers, addresses and important information for their future needs.
“Primarily, the Hispanic community, because of the language barrier, they don’t know where to get the information. So this is a way to try to give to the society. They can come here, be focused on what’s in it for them. The people here help them beyond the health fair,” said organizer Yamel Patterson-Munoz.
Organizers say they plan to bring more events to the Latino festival weekend next year.
