Springfield, Mo. (KY3) – Springfield-Greene County health officials are urging you to get updated COVID-19 boosters to protect your family.
Vaccine417.com Pfizer or Moderna is where you can get the Covid-19 and flu shots near you. It includes the new covid-19 incentives released to prevent the corona virus.
Steven Lambert says he gets an incentive to help his family.
“I have to do this with my wife working in the health care field and losing someone else,” Lambert said.
On September 12, the Springfield-Greene County Health Department will offer the new booster shots at its pop-up clinics.
Whitney Mann with the Springfield-Greene County Health Department said they are ready to help the community.
“It settled down pretty well as we’ve been receiving other vaccines,” Mann said. We are ready to go and have enough vaccines to vaccinate people.
Updated photos are from Pfizer and Moderna. They are people who have not been vaccinated in the last two months.
Lambert said he wasn’t sure about the COVID-19 vaccine at first. His father-in-law died after contracting the virus.
“It attacked her, it was weird, it attacked her nervous system,” Lambert said. “She was young, her late 40s hit her nervous system. Everything was closed within a week.”
Jenny Shipley works in the health sector. She also plans to get the new boost.
“To protect the people who need it,” Shipley said. “It’s especially nice to get what I do because I work with some people who have immune systems.”
Mann said it’s important to get the new boost because of the holidays and family events.
“Younger children may not be fully vaccinated yet, and are a little more susceptible or vulnerable in that regard, so being immunized adds extra protection to your family,” Mann said.
Health department officials say it’s also important to get your flu shots. You can get them at the same time as the Covid-19 vaccine, but you need both to protect against each virus.
Both Lambert and Shipley say the vaccines are critical, so your family member isn’t statistically the next death.
“He’s super careful and my wife works in the health care field, so that kind of seals the deal,” Lambert said.
“It simply helps them. It puts us in a safer environment,” Shipley said.
