Maite, who is currently working as a breaking news reporter abroad as part of the Year of Opportunity program in the news department He joined the Post in 2018 as an operations editor for the foreign and national security teams, researching stories, analyzing traffic data and leading training on digital best practices. . Prior to joining the post, Maite worked at CQ Roll Call, where she was responsible for audience engagement strategy. She began her career as a general category reporter for the national newspaper El Observador in Montevideo, Uruguay.
A native of Uruguay, Maite earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism from ORT University before earning her master’s degree in multimedia journalism from the University of Maryland. She lives in Gaithersburg, MD, with her husband, Justin, their two children, and the family dog, Uzi. A native Spanish speaker and avid runner, Mayte enjoys cooking in her spare time.
