The White House will host a health summit on September 28 to end American hunger and increase nutrition.

Washington, August 28/2010 The White House announced that it will hold a conference on September 28 in Washington, DC, aimed at solving problems related to hunger, nutrition and health in the United States.

US President Joe Biden said in May that the initiative would help meet his administration’s goals of ending hunger in the US by 2030 and reducing diet-related diseases in the majority of Americans.

The previous US event of this type was in 2011. It was held in 1969, the White House said.

“Lack of access to healthy and affordable foods is one of the many factors that contribute to hunger and diet-related diseases,” White House Press Secretary Karin Jean-Pierre said in a statement. The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated these challenges.

The conference, which is expected to be attended by government leaders, academics and activists, will come up with a national strategy that will identify actions the government can take to “encourage the public and private sectors to bring about change and address the nexus between food, hunger and nutrition.” And health,” added Jean-Pierre.

The White House added that the summit aims to address ways in which the United States can reduce disparities among communities most affected by these issues.

The location of the event and a specific list of participants have yet to be announced.
