LISBON – In a special meeting Friday night, the Lisbon Village Council agreed to allow the owner of Lincoln Social Hall to put up a window sign for the West Lincoln Way business.
Fiscal Officer Tracy Wonner said business owner Shannon Clark applied for a permit for the sign through the Architectural and Historic Review Board, but the request was denied.
No building appeals board has been established to hear appeals, so the case came before the village council, as allowed by law.
Wonner said the sign did not appear to follow the approved spelling code.
Councilman Dawn Thomas moved, seconded by Councilman Tom Darcy, to allow Lincoln Social Hall to put up a window sign until a building appeals board is formed, then it must go through the appeals process. She will have to file a separate application with the Board of Architectural and Historic Review to have the building next to the Columbiana County Republican headquarters landmarked.
Wonner said Mayor Peter Wilson is taking letters of interest for the five positions on the building appeals board. According to the village rules, the board consists of five residents who have lived in the village for at least one year. Appointments are subject to the approval of the Mayor’s Council.
Interested residents can send a letter of interest to Mayor Peter Wilson, 203 N. Market St., Lisbon, Ohio 44432.
