UConn Health Simsbury celebrated its grand opening


It’s easier than ever to find comprehensive health care in the heart of Simsbury.

On June 13 A ceremonial ribbon cutting at UConn Health Simsbury officially opened its new, larger home at 836 Hopmeadow Street (Route 10), Simsbury.

The new location, which opened for patient care on May 8, combines services offered at the former Avon and Simsbury locations with some new services so patients can get the care they need in one convenient location. This new location will provide an additional 4,300 square feet of healthcare space.

“UConn Health has been in Simsbury for two decades now and counting, and we are excited to have this new location, which will allow us to offer additional services,” said Dr. Bruce T. Liang, UConn Health’s interim CEO. “Being present in the community beyond our main campus in Farmington is critical to our public service mission. All of us at UConn Health are here for you and your family. Being able to offer an increasing variety of clinical services here will improve access to care in Simsbury.”

  • Blood Draw (Walking Welcome)
  • Cardiology
  • Ob/Gn
  • Orthopedics and sports medicine
    – General spine
    – Foot and ankle-joint replacement
    – Hand, wrist and arm
    – X-ray
  • Podiatry
  • Primary care
  • Pneumonia
  • Urology
  • Vascular surgery

“It took UConn’s strategy and vision to create this amazing facility, along with a great team of people. But it’s also important to be a part of this Simsbury community,” shared Ann Horbatuk, RN, Chief Operating Officer, UConn Medical Group (UMG) and Vice President of Ambulatory Services at UConn Health. “Vision, team and community. UConn Health is here to meet the needs of our patients and our community, and we look forward to serving you here at UConn Health’s new Simsbury location.”

State Rep. Melissa Osborne of the 16th.Th The district that serves Simsbury also spoke at the event.

“It’s great to have the UConn Health Institute right here in the heart of Simsbury,” Osborne said.

Also, Simsbury Interim Town Manager Lee Urdman expressed his pride in being a University of Connecticut alumni and his support for UConn Health at the event. Other Simsbury Town officials include Amber Abboul, Board of Selectmen and Jackie Batos, Zoning Commission.

In addition to local legislators, local Simsbury business owners came to the ribbon cutting event to support UConn Health along with its teachers and staff.
