Salt Lake City – The Utah Tech pitchers were unable to walk and suffered a home loss to the Abilene Christian Wildcats.

The Blazers host the Wildcats at Greater Zion Stadium on Saturday, October 1st.

Utah Tech lost to Abilene Christian 26-10.

The Devils opened the scoring with a field goal midway through the opening quarter. Connor Brooksby’s 21-yard field goal gave Utah Tech a 3-0 lead.

Midway through the second quarter, the Wildcats tied the game and got on the scoreboard for the first time with a 37-yard field goal.

With 5:53 left in the first half, Quali Conley scampered 15 yards to the end zone for his first touchdown of the night. Conley’s blast gave Utah Tech a 10-3 lead.

Unfortunately for the Blazers, Utah Tech’s result would be the end.

Abile Christian hit a 30-yard field goal with 38 seconds left to cut Utah Tech’s lead to 10-6 at halftime. However, in the third quarter, Jeremiah Dobbins ran for the first time in the second half to give the Wildcats their first lead of the game.

Dobbins ran for another pair of scores in the final quarter to lead Abilene Christian to a 16-point victory. The Chargers finished with just 284 yards and committed two turnovers. The Wildcats had 440 yards of total offense and just one giveaway.

Utah Tech quarterback Victor Gabalis finished the game 12/34 passing for 112 yards and an interception. Conley led the Blazers with 20 carries for 148 yards and a touchdown.

With the loss, the Trailblazers fell to a 1-4 record this season. The program will have a two-week break before returning to work in mid-October.

Utah Tech’s next contest is on the road against the Northern Iowa Panthers on Saturday, October 15 at 3 pm (MDT). The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
