West basketball teams split at St. Cloud Tech – The Globe


ST. CLOUD — The Minnesota Western women’s basketball team defeated host St. Cloud Tech 93-40 on Saturday. But St. Cloud Tech is coming off a 84-64 win over the West boys team.

Men

St. Cloud Tech 84, Bluejays 64

Manny Ukutegbe scored 15 points to lead Tech over the Jays as the visitors struggled to score. The Bluejays were held to just 30 points at halftime, shot 39.3 percent from the field for the game and made six of 21 3-point attempts.

Elias Williams scored 16 points, eight rebounds and four assists for Minnesota West. Kong Nile and Steve Ndumbe both had 12 points, and Bie Ruei had nine points with 11 rebounds.

Women

Lady Jays 93, St. Cloud Tech 40

The Western women, inconsistent with 3-point shots for most of the year, have won 10 against St. Cloud Tech.

Madisyn Huisman led the way with 24 points. Olivia Hainga scored 18, Tia Murray 16, and Dasia Potter 11 off the bench. Brooklyn’s Shetel Taylor finished with nine points and Danny Peterson had eight.

Huysman had seven rebounds and five steals. Hainga had 10 rebounds and four assists. Murray had eight rebounds and seven blocks.
