WHEELING – Wheeling HealthRite’s third annual “Fall for Health” fair was its biggest yet, with organizers excited to see attendees get a chance to explore local health and wellness resources like never before.
Janice Kerenbauer, back office manager at Wheeling Health Wright, said there were 43 vendors set up around the company’s parking lot, more than they hosted for the fair.
“This started just a few years ago in healthcare[property]and now it’s grown,” Karinbauer said. “This year, people were actually calling me (to participate), which was great.”
Along with resources like HealthPlan, Aetna Medicare Solutions, Project Hope and Easterseals, Carenbauer said vendors like AAA, 1-800-GAMBLER, Helping Heroes and Legal Aid have also joined.
“This year, we just have a wide variety,” Carenbauer said.
More than 100 people had come to the fair before Friday afternoon. Carenbauer said the mission of the fair was for visitors and vendors to meet each other and see what each other had to offer. HealthRite wants to make sure the people of the Ohio Valley never miss a resource that can help them.
“It might be something they don’t want to talk to their doctor about, they’re struggling with, it might be more personal for them,” Karinbauer said. You can come and talk to one of the sellers and find a way to fix the problem.
At the fair, Kerenbauer said that Project Hope and Health Wright were able to help patients who had an emergency and needed treatment, even though the facility itself was closed for the day.
“If anyone comes today with any need, hopefully, it’s met,” she said.
