Aaron Judge has led the charge for a dominant New York Yankees squad this season. And he may stamp his name in Yankees history before the season is said and done.
Judge clobbered two home runs on Friday night against the Baltimore Orioles. This is his eighth multi-home run game of the season. He has now tied the franchise record for most multi-homer games in a single season, according to ESPN Stats and Info.
The 30-year-old outfielder has undeniably been one of the most prolific hitters in the MLB this season. And it has come at a great time, given he will hit the open market in November as a free agent.
Judge’s first home run came in the top of the third inning. He took Orioles starter Tyler Wells to deep left-center field, bringing home Joey Gallo and DJ LeMahieu for a three-run home run.
The score was 4-2 New York when Judge came up in the top of the fifth inning. He once again took Wells deep, launching a monster 465-foot shot to extend the Yankee lead to three.
Judge’s impending free agency has had many around the baseball world talking. The availability of Washington Nationals superstar Juan Soto has thrown a wrench into things.
Reports emerged following the All-Star Game that Judge and the Yankees have made no progress on an extension. Furthermore, there seems to be no indication that Judge would take a cut-price deal to stay in the Bronx.
Whether Judge stays with the Yankees remains to be seen. With 67 games left for Judge to break the single-season multi-home run game record, the 30-year-old may leave the Yankees with his name in the history books.
