Youth art is sought for a healthy air life calendar competition

The San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District is seeking youth artists to help create the 2023 Healthy Air Living Kids Calendar.

All San Joaquin Valley students in grades Kindergarten through 12th grade are encouraged to enter this annual competition, which allows children to create their own vision of living a healthy lifestyle.

Entries are submitted by October 14. Winners and their artwork are featured in this bilingual calendar, which shows how individuals can improve air quality. And Quality of life for all valley residents. The district plans to print and distribute calendars to schools, community groups, health care facilities and other clean air partners.

The 2022 calendar features artwork by two local students. Paul Voight, a primary school pupil from Ballyco Cressy, said: “Please help keep the air clean and our planet green!” He shared a message. Turlock Junior High student Bennell Danilo exemplified the message of “Walking in Healthy Air and Biking to School.”

Instructions for creating a winning Healthy Air Live Kids calendar entry:

· Paper should be placed in landscape orientation, so it is 8-1/2 inches tall and 11 inches wide.

· Artwork must be done in color and ink, pen, crayon, marker, colored pencil or computer-generated. Bright colors are recommended.

· Artwork should contain a message on how to lead a healthy lifestyle. Examples of past messages: “Switch to an electric lawnmower,” “Cool down and be a car when you go to school,” “Don’t burn wood, switch to gas,” “Please don’t sit idle while you babysit.” school”

· Bilingual and Spanish language messages are encouraged.

Artists must include their name, address, phone number, e-mail, age, class and school on the back of the entry. Please mail the art board, folded or unglued, to: 2023 Children’s Calendar Contest, Valley Air District, 1990 E. Gettysburg Ave., Fresno, CA 93726 or drop off at the nearest district office in Modesto, Fresno or Bakersfield.
