Day 2
Today’s full schedule, starting with the most widely covered brand, Botter. More on them. Mame Kuruguchi was amazing. This season her clothes are based on Japanese basket weaving. The Lecourt Mansion held a cocktail party at 3 p.m., giving the fashion press a moment for the first time that day. Anrealage gave us an audio experience with their show that considered the grammar of patchwork and as an audiophile I was a fan of this runway experience. Koche Google Collaboration “Do Hoodies Make Your Dream?” he asked us. A reference to Philip K. Dick’s novel We Dream of Android Electric Sheep. We finished our day at Alice Valent’s runway show – I interviewed her in a showroom six months ago, and now she’s hosting her first runway show in Paris, a big step.
Boater is a Caribbean inspired brand, using inspiration from the sea and marine life to tell beautiful and unique stories through clothing. Six months ago, they gave me backstage film access to their Fall 2022 collection and I was incredibly impressed with their work. This season, as I walked backstage, I was greeted by Boater Creations and saw their latest masterpiece. In an effort to bring water to the runway, Botter created orbs of water that hung from the models’ hands. The orbs are made using expanded condoms, chemical free paint and tape to create this great visual effect. Among other great ideas this season, like water shoes and backpacks made of ice, it’s the condom hands that have really made a big splash.
