CHELTENHAM >> More than 40 technicians from the United States and Canada teamed up last month to install a $175,000 technology upgrade pro bono at Racha Church.
The upgrades to the church’s security system and Wi-Fi equipment by Warminster-based non-profit TeKnowledge World Wide will allow it to “serve the students’ space and our safety” as well as the church on Ashbourne Road. The community is better,” said Berachah Pastor Wilson Beaver.
The upgrade includes 32 security cameras inside and out, card access for exterior and interior doors, new exterior church doors and wireless Internet for the entire property — the church, offices and chapels, said Ray Klein, president and founder of TeKnowledge World Wide. and owner of Libertas Consulting in Warminster.
Like-minded individuals in the technology industry who strive to make a positive and meaningful difference in the community through philanthropy, Technology chose Berachah for this year’s project after Nick and Evan Rogers, church elders and owners of Moss Mill Brewery in Huntingdon Valley. A Libertas client, Klein asked the church to consider the work.
“There’s no way we can do that,” Cline said, so the church said it would “talk to that.” [TeKnowledge] See the community and their willingness to provide these products and services.
“The community really spoke up,” he said, and planning to find partners and vendors began in April.
“You probably wouldn’t have made the upgrade for 10 years,” Beaver said.
He said the bibliographic, intergenerational, multicultural congregations serving Cheltenham and Northeast Philadelphia will “provide 21st-century-updated ministry” and improve a food pantry that serves hundreds of families in Philadelphia and Montgomery County.
In addition to the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service, Racha hosts a midweek community Bible study attended by 150 to 200 mothers with their children, sponsors a monthly block party, runs summer activities at two parks and hosts several programs for students, Beaver said.
“We want people to feel welcome and for families to know that when they drop off their children, the children are safe and cared for,” he said. “This provides additional care.
“Kids are constantly here for different programs.”
South Carolina-based Cable & Connections and Vertical Cable provided the largest technology upgrade in Florida, and “42 technicians came from all over the country and Canada to install the technology for the church,” said Klein, who estimated it took more than 1,000 to plan and install. hours.
Installation began the morning of Sept. 21 and was completed by the evening of Sept. 26, Klein said.
In addition to the donated materials and labor, TeKnowledge raised $27,000 on Pledge IT to help cover expenses that could not be donated, according to the fundraising site.
It’s the third project with other organizations, but “our first as TeKnowledge,” founded by four business owners in 2021, said Klein.
“We had 40 business owners in one room who came up with creative solutions without egos,” he said. “Our slogan is ‘community over competition’. We are all in the same business but we are here to support each other.
“The local businesses I’ve worked with are my competitors, but we’ve worked together because that’s who we are.”
“We were very pleased with TeKnowledge and their care for our church and its members,” Beaver said. I can’t say enough good things about them.
