As fans of the movie “The Devil Wears Prada” all know, it’s been there before – was it planned?

Anne Hathaway wore it. That’s what he said. Dress to see Anna Wintour on purpose?

The ensemble in question — a brown crocodile-print quilted leather coat from Michael Kors and a black turtleneck with bangs and a ponytail, Hathaway sat next to Wintour at the Kors show at New York Fashion Week last month. It’s a look that seems to be a direct reference to Hathaway’s character, Andy Sachs, in the hit 2006 film.

Oscar-winning Hathaway, a New York native who grew up in Millburn, played Andy opposite Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestly in the film, an adaptation of the best-selling 2003 book of the same name. Lauren Weisberger. The film was written by Allyn Brosh McKennaRaised in Montvale, Demarest and Fort Lee.

Andy takes a job as Miranda’s assistant, an aspiring fashion editor who is never happy. The character is believed to be based on Vogue editor Anna Wintour – Weisberger worked as Wintour’s assistant at the magazine for a year.

Streep, a Summit native who grew up in Basking Ridge and Bernardsville, was nominated for an Oscar for her performance in “The Devil Wears Prada” (which won her a Golden Globe). Patricia Field was nominated for her costume design in the film.

So the look – that brown leather jacket, that black turtleneck, those bangs. All Andy, right?

Well, sort of.

The character wears the same getup at the end of the film. She quit her assistant job and is no longer working for Miranda, but she sees her old boss walking down the street and waves hello (Miranda doesn’t back down).

Hathaway wore a course outfit reminiscent of her appearance at a course show attended by Wintour and celebrities such as Serena Williams and New York Mayor Eric Adams.

Yes, she was sitting next to Wintour. But no, she didn’t intend the outfit — which included a matching, crocodile-style leather mini dress — to reference her “Devil Wears Prada” character. She though He did Choose a match, right away.

“It’s a coincidence,” Hathaway, 39, told NBC’s “Today” while promoting her feature film “Armageddon Time,” which was shot in New Jersey and premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May.

“I had to wear something else, the shoes didn’t fit, it was a different outfit, and then my hairdresser… said, ‘Oh, I know what to do,’ and he threw my hair up in a ponytail, and I looked in the mirror and said, ‘Oh, that’s funny.’ I wonder if anyone will notice?’ They noticed.
