“I’m broken,” wrote indie pop R&B star Arlo Parks, taking to Twitter to cancel US shows.
Parks began her US run earlier this month, but recently canceled an eight-date tour between September 14 and September 24 to take care of her mental health. The British artist says she is “burnt out” because her mental health has reached a “debilitating point”.
“I’ve been on the road for the past 18 months, filling every spare second in between and working myself to the bone,” Parks wrote. Twitter. “People around me started to worry but I was worried about delivering and I was afraid of disappointing my fans and myself. I pushed myself in an unhealthy way, I pushed myself harder and harder than I should have.
Now describing herself as “in a very dark place, exhausted and dangerously low,” the “Green Eyes” singer is taking time off to fly home to London to recuperate. The tour kicks off as planned on September 26th in Portland, Oregon.
She added: “I don’t take decisions like this lightly but I’m broke and I need to get out, go home and take care of myself.” “I will do everything I can to make this happen to you – you can now return it at your point of purchase. Forever grateful to everyone who continues to show up for me, what a dream to have fans like you – I will return – love AP.”
In the year In 2021, Parks won a Brit Award for Best New Artist, as well as a Mercury Prize for her album. He fell in the sunbeams.
