Savannah, Ga. (WTOC) – Memorial Health’s Dwayne and Cynthia Willett Children’s Hospital held their annual NICU Reunion Saturday and the theme fit right in with Saturday’s college game day!
It was a fun day at the hospital where NICU graduates and their parents showed their team pride and met their doctors and nurses.
They celebrated big milestones by throwing a football, getting a chance to sit in an ambulance, and more.
Memorial Children’s Hospital is the only Level 3 NICU in the community. The hospital supports 26 surrounding counties and about 5 counties in LowHenry, so many children are taken here for care.
Dr. Brad Buckler says it’s great to see the children he cares for lead happy, healthy lives.
“See them as normal kids playing and having a good time when they were really small and weak. “It’s a truly amazing event for all the physicians, nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists and nurses who love this experience,” said Dr. Brad Buckler.
Little Harper Seaman’s parents say she spent 98 days in the NICU. Her mother, Lauren Seaman, was born at 27 weeks after suffering severe pre-eclampsia. Harper had sepsis and meningitis, but is doing great now!
They have supported us so much through the most difficult and scariest times in our lives. We are extremely grateful to Ryan and Lauren Seaman for their care and support as we embarked on parenthood.
The reunion had not been held in the past few years due to the pandemic, so it was also a chance for people to see the new Memorial Children’s Hospital.
