Friends of the Yolo County Animal Shelter will hold the second annual PawJack Run Dog Fashion Show fundraiser to raise funds for an adoption van and special veterinary care.
“The need to raise funds is great as the Yolo County Animal Services shelter is at capacity,” the local nonprofit said in a press release. “The shelter is working with fosters and rescues to find homes for all animals, but there is a need to increase adoptions.”
The event is Saturday, October 8th from 3pm to 7pm at The Woodland, 1221 Harter Ave. Conducted by The HIVE. The fashion show will begin at 4:30 p.m., and guests are welcome to bring their pets in costume and compete to be the “best” in various categories, the statement said.

The Woodland’s 33rd History Walk is this Saturday and promises to be “a change from our traditional historical patterns,” according to its website.
“The Woodland’s treasury of unique homes continues to go beyond Victorian or Craftsman bungalows to include a fine selection of ‘mid-century modern’,” according to the event’s website. “And here’s an amazing fact. Mid-century modern style is over 70 years old!”
The website explains that one of the first homes built in this style in the city was built in 1954 for Marietta and Phil Leather.
“So this year, the walk will feature five homes that are unique expressions of the mid-century modern style that began in the late 1940s and is still called modern 70 years later,” the website added.

The West Sacramento Pumpkin Patch Express is open for the rest of the month for train rides in Yolo County “fun for the whole family.
Activities include a private park, carnival games, photo opportunities and pumpkin patch trick-or-treating, according to the River Fox Railway website.
“Celebrate the fall harvest on an unforgettable train ride through the farmlands of Yolo County,” the website states.
Ticket prices are $10 for children under 2, $29 for children ages 3 to 12, and $49 for adults.
Tickets include a one-hour train ride back to the station and one-hour access to the Fall Festival.

Movies on Main Street will be available at the Heritage Plaza in The Woodlands starting October 14th this year.
“Come to Heritage Plaza for fun, games and a free movie,” Woodland’s press release said. “Addams Family 2 will be shown on a giant 30-foot movie screen on Main Street.
The city encourages people to come early for games, crafts, activities and more.
“Bring picnic blankets and low back chairs for your comfort,” the statement added.
