Bra fitters know that hesitation, that nagging fear, and they all have the answers (even the questions you’re too shy to ask). It’s all part of her job.

Every time we interview bra experts, they give us the same advice: Get the right size. They said it would make a big difference. “It will change your life,” they said. But with every interview, casual comment or afterthought, it prompted a million follow-up questions. keep it up, has been Did you tell me where to attach the strap? Can you tell me a little more about breast asymmetry? Are you telling me I can’t put an underwire bra in with the rest of my laundry?

1. You should wear your bra in the high back hook, not in the middle. (This will wear out the binding quickly.)

Personally, I’ve always wondered about the three hooks on the back of my nipple. If I’m choosing the tape measure based on my size, why should I tighten or loosen it? I thought it was a stupid mistake and held my breast against the center hook. Well, I should have trusted the underwear architects more: once you find the right bra size, you start wearing it on the extreme hook. Make your way insideWhen the hood expands. what

“To extend the life of the bra, once the cuff is stretched — the elastic is after you’ve worn it every day for six months to a year — you wash it,” explains Zach. She continued, “If you’re trying on a bra you ordered at home or in a fitting room, you should only try it on the last hook, and it should fit properly.”

Many critical bra mistakes start with the cuff. “A lot of people go up a size and put it on the tightest hook because they think it’s going to fit better, but people don’t know it’s going to fit, so they wear the wrong size,” says Bernadette. Bra is spread. Later.” From the start, you put more and more pressure on the band than necessary, and it releases sooner or later.Example: Anna Sudit.

2. After wearing your bra, you can do certain exercises to make it fit better.

At this point in our lives, breastfeeding is something we don’t think about much. So when this important but thoughtless routine of ours is challenged, we naturally worry. The saying that there is a right or wrong way to wear a bra is nothing new to fashion designers. Everyone who works in the industry has developed their own methods to put women in the right place.

Altman calls their method “Scoop”: “Basically, all the breast tissue that’s going around goes under your arm and back to where it belongs — in the cups,” she explains. Once you’ve closed the back, put your hand inside the cup to push the breast inside. This ensures that the underwire is perfectly placed in the space between the muscle and your chest (and does not cut any tissue) so there is little discomfort.

Cohen also always reminds her clients to wean when they’re trying, says Third Love founder Zach. “You don’t just put it on and expect everything to be in the right place,” Zac argued. “To get the right look and fit, you need to properly adjust your bra in the bra.” ‚Scramble and swoop‘ They call it the process. They lift the bras, pull the underwire down, put the bras in place and look in the mirror to make sure everything is fine.

Bernadette, a bra specialist at New York’s popular Town Shop, recommends compression to the breast. “You actually have to lean forward to get the underwire under your bra,” she explains. “Bend forward into the bra and clap it behind her.” If you grab the bra from the front and flip it inward, she warns, “you’ll stretch the bra faster.” The goal is to “put the whole breast in the wire in the cup”.Example: Anna Sudit.

3. Your breast size changes and fluctuates throughout the year. By the way, most people have one breast larger than the other. So you don’t have to settle on one number. Instead, focus on fit.

“We like to say we’re sisters, not twins,” says Cohen. “Very few people have perfect, symmetrical breasts,” she explains. Altman’s experience trying on bras confirms this: “I’d say at least 75 percent of the people I see say one bra is better than the other, and they’re very secure.

In general, at least 25 percent of adult women have asymmetrical breasts. The difference can be very, very small — or in some cases, as much as a cup size, Cohen says. Also, you need to remember that your breast size changes during the month. Things like your period, weight gain or loss, and other lifestyle changes, Bernadette remembers, all affect the fit of your bra. “I like to do this for events like pregnancy, breastfeeding and new lifestyles,” says Cohen, “because you know your body better than anyone else.”

This means that while it helps to find the magic number and the magic letter, the quest for the perfect breast is not (and should not be) over. Finding the right fit is important – this means trying on different styles and maybe going up or down depending on how you feel. Altman likens it to buying a pair of jeans: You might have a number for a certain style on a certain brand, but that can change if you go from skinny jeans to boyfriend jeans or vice versa. “It’s like the sizes are comparable, but they’re not exact,” she says.

Bernadette recommends “trying on your bra once a year” to make sure it fits comfortably (and properly). That’s why the city store doesn’t have any bras on display: you need to visit a bra fitting room to get your hands on the style you want so you can get the right size. “I think the biggest mistake people make is saying, ‘I’m 70C and I’ve always been 70C,'” says Cohen. When you hear this, she says, “Your body changes an average of six times in a lifetime, so unless you’ve had a recent consultation, chances are you’re a different size—and that’s okay.” NoExample: Anna Sudit.

4. The best bras are reversible (for example, detachable, adjustable straps).

This may not come as a surprise to anyone with a closet full of different clothes, but the best bra is the one that does double and triple duty – the bra that goes with every outfit.

When you’re looking for a new bra, Altman recommends looking for a fit. “I’ve found a well-fitting bra is like buying a made-to-measure bra.” She says she is the hardest working cog in the gearbox. If the straps are adjustable and detachable, you have two more styles – halter and strapless. The world is at your feet.Example: Anna Sudit.

5. You can fix your breast.

The lifespan of your bra is about a year, as is clothing and care. (Pack the dryer, please.) But there are some strategic tricks and tweaks that can revive one of the most important parts of the article: the cuff. Altman points out that some specialty interior stores offer lace alterations at low cost. Others say, “You can completely adjust your bra.”

You can take your everyday bra to a tailor to have a slightly tighter band or more adjustable straps. “You can definitely get it renewed for five or ten euros,” she advises. However, she points out that this type of service is not for real models – and not for overly decorated high-end models.
