MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – The Superior Health Foundation (SHF) hosted its 11th annual gala Saturday night at the Northern Center.

The event is brought together with all kinds of sponsors to raise money for many causes. This year, SHF will partner with the District 10 Lions to donate $15,000.

“When we got the app from Lions, it was really a hit. “This was right in our wheelhouse when we look at childhood cancer and the types of kids who go through it and the problems families face with the bills,” said Jim LaJoie, executive director of the Higher Health Foundation.

This is the first time the Lions Club has partnered with the gala and UP Lions Serve President Gary Perala said it is special.

“I’m so excited, they’re an amazing organization right here in our backyard. What they do for organizations like ours is incredible and we are very happy to be a part of it,” said Perala.

Lajoie said planning for next year’s gala will begin in November and next year’s partner announcement will be in December or January.
