Auburn, Ala. – Trailing by six in the 10th inning, Auburn tied the game with six runs in the home half of the frame to complete the comeback in the 11th and use a go-ahead homer to beat Louisiana Tech 12-11 Saturday at Plainsman Park.
After a two-run double to start a six-run 10th comeback, Brody Wortham hit a solo homer with one out in the 11th. Chris Stanfield tied the game with a two-out single before Worthham’s game-winner in the 10th.
To make way for a comeback, Auburn’s bullpen quartet of Tanner Baumann; John ArmstrongTommy Vail and Chase Isbell He did not allow a baserunner in his last five innings.
Baumann was scoreless two times while the other three each went in clean frames. Vail struck out the side in the 11th to seal the victory. Isbell recorded the final three outs, including a strikeout, to record the save.
Cam Hill Auburn scored on a sacrifice fly in the second and Ike Irish hit a solo homer in the third. The team scored three runs on a wild pitch and fielder’s choice in the eighth before exploding in the bottom of the inning.
