Agawam, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – It’s time to fall in love with Western Mass and this week we’re featuring Cooper’s Gifts. Open in Agawam for nearly 50 years, the store is gearing up for some exciting sales and events leading up to the holiday season.
Proud owner Kate Gorde inherited the business from her parents and has made it a successful store for all your gift, home and clothing needs.
“We’re all about who else can help you get off your list,” Gorde said.
Around the holidays, Cooper’s retail therapists are gearing up for shoppers coming their way, Gorde says.
“No one does Christmas like Cooper. We have something for everyone on your list. We have merchandise coming in left and right. Literally, something for everyone on your list…We’re also going to start right away doing our pre-Christmas event, which is on Veterans Weekend, and then we’ll be doing all kinds of things for Black Friday and Small Business Saturday,” Gorde explained.
Cooper not only has new items coming into the store every week, but Gorde has put a lot of thought into where the items come from.
“We’ve been very thoughtful and we’ve been selecting our vendors to look for extras. We’re looking for vendors that are handmade or made in the USA or women-owned…companies that have unique gift back lines, vendors that give back to charities through their sales. We’re always looking for those unique items and We need the gifts of meaning,” Gorde said.
Cooper is known for helping customers choose the perfect gift for the people on the receiving end, but not everything has to be a gift for someone else. When it comes to home decorations, one of their special things is curtains.
“This is our place. We have wonderful curtains in the store, upstairs, downstairs…we have a loan program where people can take them home and try them on at no extra cost and no obligation. We’ll have some special deals for the holidays and that,” Gorde added.
As the business approaches 50 years of serving the western Massachusetts community, Gourde is looking forward to another milestone.
We started our Round Up program in 2014 and every month we do a different local charity, and if our customers are raising a few pennies for the next dollar at the register, we match 50 percent. “We’re very hopeful that by the end of this year we’ll have $50,000 by the end of the race,” Gorde said.
This coming weekend, Cooper’s Curtain Rod Show is Saturday from 10am to 4pm and Sunday from 12pm to 4pm.Stop by and make custom made curtains to take home and hang on your windows or even custom made curtains. . There will also be special giveaways with purchases this weekend only.
