Applications will be accepted by the Department of Economic and Community Development until Friday, October 21.
Governor Janet Mills announced today that the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) is now accepting applications for the annual Governor’s Awards for Business Excellence (GABE). Since 1991, the awards have recognized Maine businesses for outstanding commitment to their communities and employees, as well as exemplary performance in a manufacturing or service profession.
“Each year, it is my honor to present the Governor’s Award for Business Excellence to some of our exemplary businesses that make Maine a great place to live, work and raise a family.” said Governor Janet Mills. “I encourage Maine businesses to apply and look forward to celebrating this year’s honorees and their contributions to our state.”
“Now in its third decade, the Governor’s Award for Business Excellence has become one of Maine’s most prestigious business recognition awards. I encourage all eligible Maine businesses to apply for this honor. Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Heather Johnson said.
In the year The 2021 award winners Acme Monaco Corporation, Ware-Butler Building Supply and ReVision Energy are recognized as models for economic success. This year, the awards seek to honor Maine businesses that consistently strive for excellence, even in the face of global challenges.
2022 Governor’s Award for Business Excellence Categories:
- The invention AwardIt celebrates and recognizes business excellence through innovation and creativity.
- Rural Revitalization AwardRecognizing contributions to the revitalization and development of Maine’s rural regions.
- Heritage Industry AwardAcknowledges and respects business excellence in agriculture, forestry, manufacturing or maritime.
- Climate Leader AwardRecognized for business leadership, innovation or excellence in mitigating climate risks or developing new technologies to combat climate change.

Applications can be submitted to BizAwards.DECD@maine.gov by Friday, October 21, 2022. Details of the award ceremony will be announced by the governor’s office on the following day.
