Hundreds of tech-related job cuts have crippled the Bay Area’s economy, according to government reports, raising questions about the strength or weakness of the region’s labor market.

The job cuts, which affect about 300 Bay Area workers, have been made by three companies directly in the technology sector or closely related to the region’s most important industry, according to WARN notices filed with state labor officials.

Here’s a summary of some Bay Area companies that recently posted WARN notices from the state Department of Employment Development:

– Kitty Hawk Corp. is cutting 100 jobs in two Bay Area cities, Mountain View and Palo Alto. The Silicon Valley company was developing a flying car that could take off vertically and was backed by Google founder Larry Page.

– WeDriveU Inc. It is cutting 97 positions in the Bay Area, affecting workers in Menlo Park and Newark. The Burlingame-based company provides employee transportation to major Bay Area employers such as technology companies.

– Onsemi, a semiconductor manufacturer, is cutting 88 jobs, all in San Jose, as it closes a site in the Bay Area’s largest city.

The tech-related job cuts eliminated 285 positions in the Bay Area, ADD records show.
