PITTSBURGH — The Pitt Panthers finished Week 6 with 76 yards on nine penalties in a win over Virginia Tech.
Pitt had been in control for most of the afternoon, with the yellow flags causing minor setbacks. And on a few plays, head coach Pat Narduzzi disagreed with the refs’ calls.
Narduzzi said after the game, “This passer whipping the bench, guys, laughing at the passer, are you kidding me? I thought the fans were going to destroy the field.” But regardless, I’m going to try – I’m going to send the dramas, we’re going to get them screened, and I can only tell you this: we’ve had about 50 percent of the response that we agree, that’s a bad call. But we got 50 responses on uncalled plays.
Narduzzi pointed to several missed calls where he believes the defense has struggled this season.
“This new chop rule, we’re cut, cut, cut, and we’ve done an amazing job of getting Dennis Hennigan to say sorry coach,” Narduzzi said.
“Some of our looks. One of their touchdowns was a push-off, and then they called PI on us.”
But, like any coach in college football, he made sure to show some love to the refs.
“Officials are doing a great job,” Narduzzi said. “You’re doing a cool job.”
