GREENSBORO, NC (theACC.com) – Pitt middle blocker Serena Gray was named Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week, and Virginia Tech setter Hannah Borer was the league’s Player of the Week.
Gray led Pitt to a 2-0 weekend with an impressive offensive performance. The Temple City, Calif., native posted two double-digit hitting performances, hitting over .500 in both matches. Her .750 hitting percentage against North Carolina is the highest for a Panther with 10-plus kills in 2020. She followed that up with 14 kills with a season-high .522 hitting in a four-set win over Pitt NC State. It’s the fourth time she’s hit .500-or-better in consecutive games with at least 10 attempts in two years at Pitt.
Borer, a native of Lewis Center, Ohio, recorded her fifth double-double of the season in a 3-2 win over Clemson on Friday. The freshman had 34 assists and 14 digs, hitting at a .249 clip and 68 kills for the Hokies. She also added an ace for Tech. Against No. 13 Georgia Tech, Borer recorded 18 assists and six digs.
