Chillicothe – The Pump House Center for the Arts (PHCA) will feature an “Art in Textiles” exhibit and fashion show during the month of October.
The first event will be held from October 4th to 28th. The opening exhibition will be October 6th from 6:30 to 8 pm.
PHCA is looking for both traditional and contemporary works of art, from how quilts and patterns are used in fashion to clothing to various works of art. People who design fabrics, accessories using recycled clothes and new textile materials. Yarn and other natural fiber materials are also considered.
In the opening exhibit, The Pump House will feature a piece of history, a piece of fabric found during an archeological excavation of the Middle Woodland Sep-Pryser Mound near Bainbridge, Ohio in 1926. Gary Algabright, archeologist, information on this historical fabric.
The event features Columbus-area artist Chris Messerhill using photographs and fabric to create quilts that he makes and paints.
They will also have a display of dolls from around the world; doll clothes and AW Shucks Ohio Annie dolls, which are created using corn and other materials.
The Pump House hosts a fashion show highlighting a few unique local boutiques. Cranberry Boutique; Harmony Boutique; and stack; And individual designers show the same designs. The fashion show will be held on October 22 from 1pm to 3pm, with boutiques opening from noon to 4pm.
Tickets for the fashion show are $10 and will feature unique, fall fashions. We will host the event with afternoon tea. Door prizes will be available at the fashion show.
