Vice President Kamala Harris today convened Japanese business executives involved in the semiconductor industry to discuss increasing investment in US semiconductor manufacturing, strengthening semiconductor supply chains, and strengthening cooperation in semiconductor research and development. The vice president outlined ongoing efforts by the Biden-Harris administration to stimulate domestic production, create good-paying jobs, strengthen supply chains and accelerate the industries of the future, including the bipartisan CHIPS and SCIENCE Act of 2022. Investments in each of these areas. Participants discussed recent and future investments by Japanese companies in the U.S. semiconductor industry and ways to further enhance U.S.-Japan cooperation in research and development. They discussed continued collaboration to ensure a more resilient supply chain and reduce supply chain vulnerability.
