MARQUIS MarkYussuf Marquis, who recently completed a one-year stint as Louis Vuitton’s fashion communications director, is setting up a defamation agency – with LVMH Moët Hensy Louis Vuitton as its first and main client.
Called Marquis, it focuses on media consulting for brands and talent around fashion and luxury.
In addition to advising LVMH’s various media on communications, image and celebrity relations, Marquis plans to take on a roster of other clients that includes emerging designers, established brands, media properties and international talent and celebrities.
A popular and dynamic figure on the international fashion scene, Marquis spent most of his career at LVMH and served as global communications director for seven years, culminating in a 13-year stint at Givenchy.
He has assisted two very different Givenchy creative directors – Riccardo Tisci and Clare Waight Keller – and major red carpet moments, including Madonna’s Super Bowl performance in 2012 and Meghan Markle’s dress for the royal wedding in 2018.
Often dressed in head-to-toe black and wearing a broad smile, Marquis is a graduate of the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences de l’Information et de la Communication, a French school of communication and journalism that is part of Sorbonne University. He began his career at Lanvin, working with designer Albert Ilbass and eventually specializing in celebrity relationships.
On social media, Wiz has amassed 159,000 followers on his personal Instagram account, showing off his workout with “Emily in Paris” star Lily Collins and mentoring the likes of Julia Roberts, Amanda Seyfried, Courtney Love, Melissa McCarthy and Tisci.
The Marquis agency officially opens on Monday with offices in central Paris.
